Pests We Treat - Ants in Navesink, NJ crawl up foundation into Home

I was dispatched to help homeowners in Navenink, NJ who were dealing with a stubborn ant infestation in their kitchen for the past month. According to the homeowners, they had purchased every ant control product “under the sun,’ but it had become increasingly clear that, whatever they did, the ants would come back with a vengeance. After it became clear to them that this ant infestation was not a DIY project, they decided to contact a professional pest control technician. The couple was clearly exacerbated that their any infestation seemed to be getting worse by the day, and they thanked me for arriving so quickly after they had contacted a Cowleys customer service representative. I was glad to assist.

Upon arrival, I was led straight to the kitchen. They explained that they had been seeing ants on their counters and even in the dishwasher. For survival, ants require moisture and a food source, so the kitchen is a common area for an ant infestation. Because of their size, entry into the home is not difficult. Often, they will emerge from electrical outlets or the window frame above the sink. Here, following their trail, I observed their entry point beneath the interior window frame. The homeowners thankful that I found where they were entering your home, and asked me if I could resolve the problem without applying any applications inside the house.

I informed them that as long as I could determine the location of the colony, I should be able to resolve the problem from the outside of the home. The ants inside the home are just isolated foraging ants that are bringing food back to the colony. To permanently resolve an ant infestation, you have to kill the queen and the colony.

I went outside to perform my perimeter inspection, and soon found the source of the infestation. There was an ant trail with heavy traffic starting from a landscape bed adjacent to the foundation wall. The trail went under the siding and exited to where ants had been seen inside the home.

Now, with the trail located, it was time to treat. I used my hand sprayer to treat the ant trails, the point of entry, the landscape bed, and, for good measure, the complete exterior perimeter of the home. Once the outdoor treatment takes effect and the product is carried back to the colony, this troublesome ant infestation will soon be completely eliminated. Within 14 days, the queen and her colony will be dead, and these homeowners will have no more foraging ants sightings in their kitchen.

The homeowners were grateful for our quick service. Their only regret was not contacting Cowelys sooner, so that they could have avoided living with this infestation for more than a month, and wasting money on ineffective ant control products that often do more harm than good.
