As this customer in Cranbury, NJ was enjoying the beautiful summer weather outside on her deck, she was suddenly attacked by several yellow jackets! She quickly went inside, looked up a local pest control company, found Cowleys, and we were sent out. Yellow jackets are aggressive and territorial wasps with distinctive yellow-and-black coloration. They're known to sting anyone and anything that they perceive as a threat, such as those who venture too close to their nests or their food!

As we began examining the backyard, we noticed several yellow jackets grouping near an area on the fence, so we took a closer look. That's when we found out that the yellow jackets actually had a nest inside a small hole in the fence! In order to rapidly exterminate these aggressive pests, we injected a knockdown dusting application into the opening. After several moments went by, in order to prevent any future infestations with yellow jackets (or other stinging insects) we treated the area with a liquid residual. 

We're back at this commercial facility in East Windsor, NJ to check up on the rodent activity around the property. When we checked on one of the stations, we were shocked to find out that it was infested with earwigs!

Earwigs are slender, nocturnal insects that get their name from the old European myth that they crawl into people’s ears and eat or lay eggs in their brains while they are sleeping! Fortunately, this is just an old folks tale and NOT at all true. They're approximately 1/4 - 1 inch long, are dark brown to reddish-brown in color, have flattened bodies (that allowed them to fit in tight crevices), and a threadlike antenna that is almost half of their body length. The most notable feature about earwigs is their pincer-like appendage, which they use to defend against predators and catch their prey. The pincer on female earwigs is straight while the males are curved. Earwigs are strictly a nuisance pest and pose no harm to humans. They'll spend their days hiding in small, dark, and moist areas, like the inside of our rodent bait station!

We're going to treat this area, as well as the entire exterior perimeter of the facility, with a liquid non-repellent residual. This application will eliminate the earwigs quickly.

As this homeowner in Cranbury, NJ was sitting on his front porch one evening, he noticed several bats flying out of his home! He immediately contacted Little Rascals and we were sent out. As we inspected the exterior of the building, we noticed a small opening in the soffit. This was how the bats were entering the home! We then inspected the attic and found several big brown bats in the corner. There was even one that was hanging around a tree near the home!

In order to safely remove the bats, we installed a bat cone over the access point and then temporarily enclosed the area off with hardware cloth. The bat cone will allow the bats to safely leave the attic but prevent them from getting back in. After a short while later, we returned to the home for a follow up visit and discovered that all the big brown bats were no longer residing in the home.

We then removed the bat cone, disinfected the entire attic, and installed sturdy metal flashing over the access point to prevent any future intrusions from bats, as well as all other nuisance wildlife. 

One early November afternoon, we were sent out to a new customers home in Cranbury, NJ to eliminate a bald-faced hornets nest. Usually, around this time of year, bald-faced hornets and other stinging insects overwinter, but do to the fact that the outside temperature has been unusually warm (above 50 degrees), they're still active! 

We spotted the volleyball sized nest in a tree in the backyard. For treatment, we injected the nest with a knockdown aerosol application, waited a few a moments, and then injected a knockdown liquid application. Both of these treatments will rapidly exterminate the bald-faced hornets. After a few moments, we removed the nest (and the branch it was attached to) and properly disposed of them.

A new Home Protection Plan customer in Cranbury, NJ was having a issue with mice in her crawl space. We were sent out to inspect and treat. As we began surveying the home, we found a hole on the side of the foundation. Turns out this hole has been there for quite some time and the homeowner never took care of it. Due to that, the mice used this opening to infest the home! We told the owner, we finally decided to hire a professional to repair it. 

For treatment, we carefully vacuumed up all the droppings in the crawl space and around the outside of the home.
