Excluding Squirrels from the Home in South Bound Brook, NJ Excluding Squirrels from the Home in South Bound Brook, NJ

Now that we safely removed all the squirrels from this home in South Bound Brook, NJ and relocated them to a new, humane environment, we're going to prevent them from getting back in. The squirrels were able to infest the home through the builders gap. A builders gap is the gap between the fascia board, where the gutter is hung, and the roof decking. It's caused when roof decking is stopped too short and isn't flush with the fascia. The gap is meant to help with airflow throughout the attic, but also presents an opportunity for squirrels, as well as raccoons, birds, and bats, to infest the attic.

To exclude the squirrels, as well as any other nuisance wildlife or nuisance birdswe installed Pest-Blok over the builders gap. Pest-Blok doesn't restrict airflow, undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process that makes it last longer, and guards the home against squirrels, pests, birds, and all other nuisance wildlife.

This customer in South Brunswick, NJ had an infestation of starlings in her attic and wanted Birds Solutions by Cowleys to safely remove them. As we inspected the exterior of her home, we immediately located the access point - a giant opening below the soffit on the right side of the home! This was how the starlings were able to gain access into the attic.

The first thing we did was carefully remove all of the nesting debris out of the attic. Once we finished with that, we then disinfected the entire attic with a application that targets and exterminates bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds and are one of the main reasons why extreme care is needed when removing a birds nest.

Lastly, in order to successfully exclude the starlings, as well as all nuisance birds, from the home, we installed Pest-Blok over the giant opening. Pest-Blok doesn't restrict the airflow to the attic, undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process that makes it last longer, and guards the home against nuisance birds, bats, and all nuisance wildlife.

As this elderly homeowner in South Bound Brook, NJ was walking around the exterior of his home, he discovered a HUGE bald-faced hornets nest in one the bushes! He ran inside and called Cowleys for help!

We arrived, equipped our protective bee suit, and within minutes located the bald-faced hornets nest (it was hard to miss)! When a hornets nest gets that big, it means there are hundreds of short-tempered insects inside waiting to sting anything that comes close to their nest! For treatment, we injected a knockdown aerosol application directly into the opening of the nest. A few moments later, we treated the nest with a knockdown liquid product. Both treatments rapidly exterminate the bald-faced hornets. Once they were eliminated we removed the nest and the branch it was attached to and disposed of them properly.

Job Stories From South Bound Brook, NJ
Carpenter Bees Are Ruining the Deck in South Bound Brook, NJ

After noticing a large amount of bees flying around his deck, this customer in South Bound Brook, NJ called Cowleys for help and we were sent out. As we inspected the area, we came across the bees and informed the customer that these were carpenter bees. Carpenter bees are solitary, wood-destroying pests, and can cause significant property damage, as the female bees drill perfectly circular ½-inch diameter holes into fascia boards, porches, decks, siding, sheds, and other wooden structures. While the female creates a tunnel to nest, the male acts as a sentry protecting the female and nest. Those are the ones that dive bomb at you, but can't really do anything since they have no stinger.

If not treated, carpenter bees will reused the same galleries year after year. This is because carpenter bees leave a pheromone in the areas where they nest. When other carpenter bees are passing by, the pheromone attracts them to the area, and they stop to check it out because they think it's a safe place to live. As long as that pheromone is there, the carpenter bees will continue to come your home year after year!

For treatment, we injected a residual dusting application into each one of the drill holes. This treatment will eliminate the carpenter bees as well as leave behind a residual that will exterminate any returning carpenter bees as well as any newly hatched carpenter bees in the galleries.

This Was How the Mice Were Infesting the Home in South Bound Brook, NJ

After spotting a mouse in her laundry room, this client in South Bound Brook, NJ immediately called our office for help. As we were inspecting the home, we discovered an exposed exhaust vent that had droppings around it. Turns out this was how the mice were getting into the home. We also found another two exposed exhaust vents with mouse droppings around it.

For treatment, we installed a rodent bait station in front each exposed exhaust vent, in several other locations around the property, and inside the home in the high infestation areas. Once we were finished, we scheduled several follow up visits to monitor the activity and replenish the bait stations as needed.  Once all the mice are gone, our Wildlife Division is going to come out and install an exhaust vent cover over each exhaust vent.
