Pests We Treat Photo Album: Rats Burrow Around the Deck in Raritan, NJ
There were a bunch of rat burrows around this customer's deck in Raritan, NJ.
A Bunch of Rat Burrows
We found a bunch of rat burrows around the deck and throughout the yard.
Purpose of Rat Burrows
Rats create these burrows to travel from their nest to a food source and to escape predators.
More Than One
Their burrows usually contain a main entrance and 1 or 2 exit holes away from the main entrance. They are smooth, tunnel-like holes, 2-4 inches wide, with fresh dirt scattered in a fan shape around the opening.
Our Set Up for Rats
We set up several rodent bait stations near each of the burrows and then installed several snap traps that are inside temper-proof, child resistant boxes near them. Once we were done we scheduled a number of returns visits to monitor the rat infestation and replenish the bait inside the bait stations as needed.
