Pests We Treat Photo Album: Massive Termite Damage Throughout the Shed in Belmar, NJ
We discovered something very interesting throughout this homeowner shed in Belmar, NJ.
Extensive Termite Damage
As we were treating the exterior of the home and examined the shed, we noticed that it had been severely damaged by termites!
Mud Tubes & More
You can see the extent of the damage in this piece of wood as well as several mud tubes. Mud tubes are pencil-width size tubes made by the worker termites. They use these tunnels to travel to and from their nest when foraging for food. These protective tubes allow the termites to stay moist underground.
A Matter of Time
Since the shed was actually attached to the building, it is only a matter of time before those wood-destroying insects shift their focus from the shed, to the home!
Termite Treatment Time
First, injected a liquid termiticide around the entire exterior of the shed and the home. After that, we injected a foaming version of the termiticide into the walls of the shed.
How the Termiticide Works
The termiticide binds to the treated areas and creates a protective zone that the termites can't detect. They'll unknowingly come in contact with this treatment as they go about their normal routine, bring it back to their nest, and transfer it among their colony. A short while later, the termites are exterminated and the home will be protected from these pests for many years to come.
