Pests We Treat Photo Album: Restaurant's Unsanitary Conditions Causes an Infestation of Fruit Flies in Red Bank, NJ
There were a number of sanitation issues that contributed to the massive fruit fly infestation in this restaurant in Red Bank, NJ.
Dirty Dishes Left Out
There were a number of dirty dishes and silverware left out overnight and weren't cleaned.
Nothing Was Properly Stored
A number of their food containers and condiments weren't stored properly and left open and exposed. We also noticed that there was a massive amount of grease buildup on the walls.
Dirty Rags Scattered Around
There were also a number of dirty cleaning rags left in several areas of the restaurant. We showed the owner every one of these issues and told him that these were the reasons why he had fruit flies! Thankfully, the owner and his staff immediately started cleaning these problem areas.
A Mess
As they were cleaning up, we applied a liquid application in all the floor drains and then scrubbed them out with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush. Next, we applied a bio-foam solution that removes the organic build-up, odors, and scum in all the drains (which is the material the fruit flies breed in).
Fly Traps & the Fly Bait
After that, we treated the main infestation areas with a fly bait to control the adult fruit flies and then installed a number of fruit fly traps. The attractant in the traps draws the fruit flies close and the bait inside the traps exterminates them within moments of contact. In a short amount of time, the fruit flies will be gone for good.
