Pests We Treat Photo Album: Home Inspector Misses Carpenter Ants in Manchester, NJ
We inspected the area in question and confirmed the homeowner's suspicion that these were in fact carpenter ants. We found them under the windowsill by the kitchen sink inside the home.
When we inspected the windowsill on the exterior side of the home, we slowly pulled back the flashing and saw a large carpenter ants nest!
We also uncovered some slight damage to the wood. The homeowner mentioned that he recently purchased this home and his home inspector didn't find any signs of wood-destroying pests! This is why it pays to have a second opinion.
The homeowner wanted us to eliminate the pests and we went right to work! We treated the main nest with a knockdown liquid application, which rapidly neutralizes the carpenter ants.
We then treated the entire exterior perimeter and, at the owner's request, the inside of the home with a liquid residual. We'll return on a follow-up visit to make sure these wood-destroying pests are neutralized for good!
