While inspecting, I found one active paper wasp nest near the back door.
And another one right on the front porch. This one was extremely active and was filled with larvae.
Paper wasps are stinging insects that look similar to yellow jackets, but are brown & yellow in color and build their nests out of "paper-like" material (hence their name). They only sting if provoked or threatened, but their stings are extremely painful.
Paper wasps nests, if not properly removed, can be as large as a basketball and contain over 400 paper wasps.
I grabbed my extendable pole and treated each nest with a knockdown aerosol product. This application exterminates the paper wasps almost immediately.
After a few moments, I removed both nests and properly disposed of them.
Recently, I was sent out on a service call for a resident in Farmingdale, NJ who found several wasp nests around her home.
