I began inspecting the exterior and found the wasp nest right above garbage cans. A closer look told me that it was paper wasps.
Also called umbrella wasps, paper wasps look similar to yellow jackets, but have a thin "waist," with six long legs and an almost triangular side view. They are mostly brown with some yellow coloration.
Although the nest is small now, if left untreated, the nest can grow to the size of a basketball and contain hundreds of paper wasps.
I applied an aerosol application directly to the nest. This rapidly exterminates the paper wasps. After a short while, I removed the nest, properly disposed of it, and applied a residual product to the area to prevent re-infestation.
A new customer in Manahawkin, NJ, gave us a call after discovering a wasps nest near the soffit area above her garbage cans.
