Pests We Treat Photo Album: The Poor Sanitation Contributed to the Massive Fruit Fly Infestation in Sayreville, NJ
Several Factors
The reasons why the kitchen had such a high infestation of fruit flies was due to the number of sanitation issues throughout the area. The floor drains were dirty and filled with a bunch of debris, the grease traps and deep fryers were dirty and haven't been cleaned in quite some time...
Dirty Rags & Aprons
...and there was a laundry basket filled with dirty aprons and rags that were there for over 4 days!
Need to Be Kept Clean
We showed the owner all of these sanitation issues and informed them that to get rid of the fruit flies, and prevent other pest infestations, all of these dirty areas must be cleaned and kept clean. He agreed and he & his team started to clean the entire kitchen.
As They Were Cleaning
While they were doing that, we applied a liquid application in all the floor drains and then scrubbed them out with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush. Next, we applied a bio-foam solution that removes the organic build-up, odors, and scum in all the drains. The organic material in the drains is the breeding ground for the fruit flies and once that is gone, so will the fruit flies.
Fly Bait & Fly Traps
Afterward, we treated the high infestation areas with a fly bait to control the adult fruit flies and installed several fruit fly traps. The attractant in the traps draws the fruit flies close and the bait inside the traps exterminates them within moments of contact. In a short amount of time, the fruit flies will be gone for good.
