Along the edge of the walkway, leading up to the front door, were a number of cicada killer wasp burrows.

What Are These Pests?

Cicada killers are about 2 inches big and are solitary insects, meaning they nest alone. They typically nest in well-drained, light-textured soils in full sunlight and received their name from killing cicadas in order to reproduce their larvae.

Are They Dangerous?

Cicada killer wasps aren't aggressive and will only sting if you step on them or grab them. However, during the burrowing process, the female cicada killer wasp can displace several pounds of dirt making a big mess and damaging the roots of plants. Additionally, they can dig in areas near walkways which can make some structures unstable.

Targeted Treatment for Cicada Killer Wasps

We injected a residual dusting product into every single cicada killer burrow as well as placed a granular bait in and around their burrows. These treatments will quickly exterminate the cicada killer wasps
