When checking our rodent bait stations at this property, we found one that had a black widow in it!
Difference Between Females & Males
Female black widows are black in color with two reddish triangular markings that look like an hourglass. Males are smaller, lighter in color (gray or brown), and may have red or white spots or stripes on the top side of their abdomen.
Strong Venom
Their venom is reported to be 15 times stronger than that of a rattlesnake, but they only bite humans when they're disturbed.
Targeting Black Widow
We applied a knockdown liquid application directly to the black widow, which is going to rapidly neutralize it. Once we were finished, we performed a crack and crevice treatment around the entire exterior of the building with a residual application that is specifically labeled to eliminate spiders, as a precaution.
