Pests We Treat Photo Album: Termite Swarmers & Termite Damage Found in Deal, NJ
Recently, we treated a home in Deal, NJ for termites.
Lots & Lots of Termite Swarmers
While we began inspecting the basement, we found a ton of termite swarmers throughout the area. Those are the winged adult reproductives in which termite colonies send out in search of a hospitable area. Unlike other termites in a colony, swarmers are attracted to light. Termite swarmers have two pairs of wings that are the same length (which is how you tell the difference between them and other pest swarmers). Their antennae are straight, opposed to ants that have bent antennae, and their waist section is also not pinched like ants.
Active Termite Damage
Continuing our inspection, we noticed that several of the wooden beams had active termite damage to them. After showing this to the owner, we immediately began our treatment for termites.
Foaming & Liquid Termiticide
With the owner's permission, we drilled into the wooden beams and injected a foaming termiticide. After that, we then drilled into the flooring of the basement, as well as around the home, and injected a liquid version of the termiticide.
Termites Share The Treatments
What both of these treatments do is create a protective zone that is undetectable to the termites. The termites will come in contact with the termiticide, bring it back to their nest, and then transfer it throughout their colony. The termiticide then spreads rapidly, like a virus, throughout their entire colony! In short amount of time, any and all termites will be exterminated and the home will be protected from termites for many years.
