Eliminating the Drain Flies in the Restaurant in Windsor, NJ
We received a call from the owner of a restaurant in Windsor, NJ complaining of drain flies throughout his trash room. When we arrived, we began inspecting the trash room and located a floor drain that hasn't been used in quite some time. Turns out, this was where the drain flies were coming from.
Also called sewer flies, drain flies are small, dark-winged, non-biting gnats that thrive in drains because of the fats, oils, and greases that go down every drain. The drain flies use this buildup as a food source, breeding ground, and habitat all in one. As long as there are fats, oils, and greases in the drain, drain flies will continue multiplying and invading the business.
For treatment, we applied a liquid application in this floor drain and, just to be on the safe side, all of the floor drains throughout the restaurant. Next, we scrubbed each one out with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush and then applied a bio-foam solution. This application removes all of the organic build-up, odors, and scum inside the drains. Next, we treated the high infestation areas with a fly bait to control the adult drain flies still hovering around. Lastly, we spoke to the owner and suggested a few new and effective cleaning protocols to prevent any future drain fly issues.
