Tore a Hole Right In It
As you can see, the raccoon ripped a hole right in the owner's gable vent and started taking up residency in the attic!
Downspout Elbow
The raccoon was able to accomplish that by climbing the downspout and pushing through the soffit above the downspout elbow.
Whole Lot of Damage
The raccoon was causing quite a bit of damage to the property! Fortunately, a short while after setting up our retrieval devices we safely retrieved the raccoon and took it to a new, humane location.
Repairing the Damages
We then installed sturdy metal flashing over the soffit above the downspout elbow as well as all the other damaged areas to the soffit.
As for the Gable Vent
We also fashioned a louvered vent guard and installed it over the gable vent. The louvered vent guard is made out of heavy-duty Galvannealed steel, which means that not only is it durable, but it also won't rust. Additionally, it is customized to accommodate vents of all shapes and sizes and properly secures the area from not just bats, but all nuisance wildlife and birds too.
