Pests We Treat - Hornets Nest Found in Bayville, New Jersey
My co-worker held the ladder in place as I steadily climbed up the ladder. I used safety clips because with stinging insects flying around I did not want to fall if my weight shifted. This job was a bit higher risk than most of my other stinging insect jobs, but I look forward to them. These are the memorable jobs that give me some good stories to tell at the end of the day.
While on the ladder, I first used a fogging and contact-killing aerosol to kill or disbursed the first line of defense and get close enough to the entry hole to dust it in order to kill the wasps in the interior of the nest and any returning wasps as they enter. I waited until all was quiet, and then removed the nest and carried it down the ladder. Once back on solid ground, I packaged the nest to take it off the property where I would later safely discard it.
