Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Squirrel Nesting in the Attic in Beachwood, NJ
The squirrel was able to get into this home in Beachwood, NJ by squeezing through the builder's gap.
The Builder's Gap
The squirrel just squeezed right through builder's gap to enter the home. A builders gap is the gap between the fascia board (where the gutter is hung) and roof decking. This gap is caused when roof decking is stopped too short and is not flush with the fascia. The gap is meant to help with airflow throughout the attic, but is also the perfect place for wildlife to gain access into a home.
Set Up for Success
We installed Pest-Blok over the entire length of the builder's gap except for one area. We then installed a retrieval device over that access point and then set up a baited device nearby.
Good Thing About Pest-Blok
Pest-Blok doesn't restrict the airflow, undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process that makes it last longer, and guards the builder's gap against squirrels, bats, and all nuisance wildlife.
Finish the Exclusion
A short while later, we successfully retrieved the squirrel and took it to a safer location. We then disinfected the attic and installed another portion of Pest-Blok over the access point.
