Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Raccoon Living Under the Deck in Spring Lake, NJ
This raccoon was living underneath the deck of this home in Spring Lake, NJ.
Area It Got In
After inspecting the exterior, we located the area where the raccoon got it - which was an open area underneath the deck.
Positive We'll Get the Raccoon
In order to safely retrieve the raccoon, we setup a positive set. A positive set is a device that's comprised of a nose cone that is attached to a two-gaited, heavy-duty device. The nose cone will safely guide the raccoon into the heavy-duty device. It's called a positive set, because we are positive that the raccoon will enter the device!
Dig & Install Hardware Cloth
After setting up the positive set, we dug down and installed a hardware cloth barrier under ground to prevent the raccoon from digging and getting back underneath the deck.
"L Shaped" Sturdy Perimeter
The hardware cloth is installed 12 inches deep and 12 inches out from the bottom of the deck and creates a sturdy "L shaped" perimeter that will prevent the raccoon, and other nuisance wildlife, from burrowing and nesting underneath the area.
Blend It In
We then capped the top of the metal with Azek trim to blend in with the white material used on the deck.
Cover it Up
Lastly, we filled in the trenches. Once we retrieve the raccoon we will take it to a new & safer location.
