Heavy Rain Brings the Ants in Manasquan, NJ
Challenge
Recently, I went out on a service call for a homeowner in Manasquan, NJ who was having an issue with ants in his living room. When I inspected the home, I noticed that the ants were emerging from a crack in the fireplace and trailing up to the mantle. As I brought this to the homeowner's attention, he mentioned that he never had any issues with ants until it rained the other day.
This is actually pretty common. When it rains, ants that live on the ground surface or underground are at risk of drowning. Therefore, the workers pick up their eggs and other immature ants and seek out shelter in a dry place, like your home!
Solution
For treatment, I'm going to place an ant gel bait along the area and then use a flushing application to treat along the cracks. The flushing application will flush the ants out of hiding and exterminate them.
Once I finish, I'm then going to treat this area and the entire exterior of the home with a liquid residual. Once the ants come in contact with either the bait or the liquid treatment, they will bring the treatments back to their nest and share them with one another, including their reproductive queen. In no time at all, the entire ant colony is eliminated.
