A Surprising Pest
As we checked on our monitors, we found another pest inside - springtails!
What Are Springtails
Springtails, also called snow fleas, are very small insects that are considered nuisance pests as they can enter a structure in large numbers. They are found in wet or damp locations such as bathrooms. Their name comes from the fact that they have an appendage on the rear of their body which they "spring" to move from place to place.
Moisture Problem
Because springtails require high moisture to survive, the best way to eliminate indoor populations is to address the moisture problem. After searching the area, we discovered that one of the fridges was leaking water all over the place and the humidity levels were extremely high.
Treat the Springtails
We informed the owner, who is going to address the moisture problem immediately. As for the springtails, we performed a crack and crevice treatment throughout the infested areas with a liquid application. This treatment will exterminate the springtails almost immediately.
