Shed Wrecked Thanks to Termites in Basking Ridge, NJ
Challenge
As this homeowner in Basking Ridge, NJ was starting to clean out his shed, he noticed that several areas of the shed appeared to be damaged by termites. Hoping he was wrong he called Cowleys for help and we were sent out. When we started to inspect the area, unfortunately, we confirmed the owner's suspicion and found not only termite damage, but also termite mud tubes and active subterranean termites!
Termite mud tubes are pencil-width size tubes that are made by the worker termites. Termites utilize these tunnels to travel to and from their nest when foraging for food. These protective tubes also allow the termites to stay moist underground.
Solution
With the owner's permission, we injected a foaming termiticide into the damaged areas of the shed. After that was done, at the owner's request, we injected a liquid termiticide around both the shed and the entire exterior of the property. Both of these treatments bind to the treated areas and creates a protective zone that the termites can't detect. As the termites go about their business, they'll come in contact with the termiticide and then bring it back to their nest. They will then share it throughout their colony and, unknowingly, spread it to one another. In short amount of time, the termites will be exterminated.
