Pests We Treat Photo Album: Luxury Apartment Infested with Powderpost Beetles in Red Bank, NJ
We were sent out on a service call to a luxury apartment unit in Red Bank, NJ to treat for powderpost beetles.
Damaged Not From Termites
This property manager thought that termites had infested the unit, but after carefully looking at the damage and the insects, we identified them as powderpost beetles.
Exactly What Are Powderpost Beetles
"Powderpost beetle" is a term used to describe several species of small (1/8-3/4 inch long) wood-destroying insects that reduce wood to a flour-like powder. These beetles lay eggs in the wood, and their larvae tunnel through it as they feed, weakening it from the inside out.
Start Treatment for Powerpost Beetles
First, we injected a foaming termiticide into all the wooden baseboards and walls throughout the living room. After that, we then injected a liquid version of the application around the entire exterior of the apartment.
Elimination of the Powderpost Beetles
Both variations of the termiticide create a protective zone that the powderpost beetles can't detect. Once they come in contact with either of these treatments and bring them back to their nest to share, they'll be exterminated.
