Groundhogs Getting Under Porch in Rocky Hill, NJ
This customer in Rocky Hill, NJ had a problem with several groundhogs nibbling on her plants and garden, and then harboring underneath her porch! After searching on the internet, she came across Little Rascals, called our office, and we were sent out to inspect and treat.
As we inspected the porch, we found several burrows made by the groundhogs around the porch. In order to safely retrieve them, we installed several positive sets over each one of the burrows and then installed Dig Defense® around the entire perimeter of the porch. A positive set is a device that's comprised of a nose cone that is attached to a two-gaited, heavy-duty device. The nose cone will guide the groundhogs safely into the heavy-duty device. It's called a positive set, because we are positive that the groundhogs will enter the devices! Dig Defense® is a below-ground fence system that is 15 inches deep, 4 feet across, and protects structures against all wildlife!
A short while after setting up our devices, we safely retrieved all of the groundhogs and then moved them to a new, safer location. We then installed another portion of Dig Defense® over the burrows and then placed a brand new lattice around the porch! Now the area is not only properly protected from groundhogs, but all nuisance wildlife too!

Transforming a Hot & Dirty Attic in Bernardsville, NJ
This customer in Bernardsville, NJ, has owned his home for over 40 years and decided it was time to upgrade the insulation in his attic, so he contacted our Attic Systems Division for assistance. After discussing various options, the owner decided to have us add TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation to his attic space.
Fiberglass can lose it effectiveness over time and leave gaps in your attic where air can escape. First, we carefully removed all the old insulation and properly disposed of it. We then placed several measuring sticks throughout the attic to ensure that the proper amount of R-value is added to the attic. Next, we air sealed all the gaps and cracks in the attic. This will eliminate air flow between the living space and the attic, improving energy efficiency.
Lastly, we added over 10 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation. TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation maximizes home comfort, has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating & is resistant to mold and pests.
Taking Down a Huge Bald-Faced Hornets Nest in Bernardsville, NJ
Recently, we were sent out on a service call for a new customer in Bernardsville, NJ to treat and remove a hornets nest. The owner stated that the nest was "big" and it was attached to her downspout. Well, when we arrived and spotted the nest, we determined that the term "big" was an understatement! The nest was MASSIVE and full of angry bald-faced hornets!
Bald-faced hornets are one of the most aggressive and territorial stinging insects out there. If anything comes within close proximity to their nest, they will attack it! So we equipped our protective bee suit and treated the nest with a knockdown liquid and a knockdown dusting application. Both of these treatments will rapidly exterminate the bald-faced hornets.
A short while later we removed the nest, disposed of it, and then treated the area with a liquid residual. This application will neutralize any bald-faced hornets that return to the area as well as prevent them, and any other stinging insect, from building another nest.
Closing Up the Access Points for Flying Squirrels in Bernardsville, NJ
Recently, we were sent out to a home in Bernardsville, NJ to remove some flying squirrels that had infested the attic. The flying squirrels had entered the home via the soffit return. They torn a hole right into the soffit! A short while after setting up our retrieval devices, we had successfully and safely retrieved all of the flying squirrels.
We then disinfected the attic and installed sturdy metal flashing over the entry point. This will prevent any future intrusions from flying squirrels, or any other nuisance wildlife. When we were finished, we then took all the flying squirrels to a safer location.
