Wildlife Removal Photo Album: How a Wind Storm Lead to a Squirrel Infestation in Jackson, NJ
During a severe wind storm, a tree branch fell on this homeowner's roof in Jackson, NJ, and severely damaged it. As the homeowner was surveying the damage, he noticed that several squirrels had infested his attic!
That's a Lot of Damage
Here's where the tree branch fell. As you can see, it caused a lot damage.
The Exhaust Pipe
Upon inspection, I found that the squirrels were using the exhaust pipe opening to infest the home.
Make a New Access Point
I temporarily screened off the exhaust pipe with hardware cloth and made a new opening in soffit area that the squirrels could use.
One-Way
I placed several baited traps nearby and installed a one-way device by the new access point and enclosed it with hardware cloth. The one-way allows the squirrels to exit the area but is designed to prevent them from getting back in.
Need a New Roof
A short while later, I successfully retrieved all the squirrels from the home and relocated them to a new, humane location. We offered to seal up all the access points with sturdy metal flashing, but unfortunately, the roof was so badly damaged that the homeowner decided it was best to get a new roof instead.
