Crawl Space Encapsulation Photo Album: Converting Dirt Floor Crawl Space to an Efficient One in Gladstone, NJ
Before this new homeowner can enjoy his newly acquired property in Gladstone, NJ he wanted our Crawl Space division to encapsulate his crawl space.
Why Dirt Floor Crawl Spaces Aren't Efficient
The problem with dirt floor crawl spaces is that they attract and absorb moisture and once the dirt dries, it causes humidity levels to rise. This will lead to mold and mildew issues.
Everything's Gotta Go
We removed all of the debris and old insulation out of the crawl space, disposed of them, and then leveled the ground for proper draining.
Drainage Matting & Vapor Barrier
We then installed a drainage matting on the ground then installed a vapor barrier on top of it.
What's a Vapor Barrier Again?
The vapor barrie is a heavy-duty, 20-mil 7-ply sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with a polyester-cord reinforcement. It cannot tear and is extremely durable and is also treated with an antimicrobial to prevent mold. By encapsulating the crawl space & installing the vapor barrier over the foundation walls and floor will create a continuous air and moisture barrier.
ComfortTherm® Insulation
Lastly, we installed ComfortTherm® Insulation throughout the crawl space. ComfortTherm® Insulation is poly-encapsulated and is ideal for moisture-rich crawl space environments.
Preserves the Air Quality
ComfortTherm® insulation helps to preserve the air quality, reduce energy costs, provide excellent temperature and noise control, and comes with a vapor-retarder for use in hot, humid climates. Now the new homeowner has an clean, optimized crawl space that he can also use as an extra storage space in the home.
