Crawl Space Encapsulation Photo Album: Tidying Up & Reinsulating an Old & Messy Crawl Space in Woodbridge, NJ
This homeowner's crawl space in Woodbridge, NJ was in need of some desperate TLC!
Messy & Warm
The crawl space was in quite a disarray. Not only was there debris and other items scattered throughout the area, but almost every piece of insulation was falling down due to a buildup of moisture in them and the humidity levels was extremely high!
Clean It All Up First
First, we carefully removed all of the contaminated insulation, and any other debris that was scattered throughout the area, and disposed of them properly.
Prevent Mold
Afterward, we disinfected the entire crawl space with an EPA registered antimicrobial called MAPS 1. This will not only disinfect the crawl space, but also eliminate any and all mold and mildew growth.
Next is ComfortTherm®
Afterward, we installed ComfortTherm® Insulation throughout the crawl space. ComfortTherm® Insulation is poly-encapsulated and is ideal for moisture-rich crawl space environments. The insulation also helps to preserve the air quality, reduce energy costs, provide excellent temperature and noise control, and comes with a vapor-retarder for use in hot, humid climates.
SilverGlo™ Over Old Vents
After that, we installed SilverGlo™ over the old vents throughout the crawl space. SilverGlo™ is a waterproof foam insulation that seals the walls from outside moisture and humidity.
Finally, the Dehumidifier
Finally, to control the extremely high humidity levels, we installed a Sedona dehumidifier. This is a powerful, energy-efficient, commercial-grade dehumidifier that outperforms standard household dehumidifiers by as much as 10 times while using the same amount of energy to run.
