Bird Control Services Photo Album: Pigeons Roosting in Nooks & Crannies of Town Hall in Elizabeth, NJ
We were sent out to the town hall building in Elizabeth, NJ to safely remove pigeons.
The Town Hall
Throuhout the nook and crannies of the town hall building...
Nests & Feces
...were a bunch of pigeon nests and their droppings.
First Thing: Disinfect
The first thing we did was carefully remove all the bird nesting debris and then disinfect the areas with an application that targets and eliminates bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds. When birds leave their nests, the mites are left behind without a suitable host for their next blood meal. They will make their way inside and start feeding on everyone inside the building! To make matters worse, bird mites are tiny and semi-transparent, so they are extremely difficult to detect!
Now for the Optic Gel
After that was done, we installed optical gel. Optical gel is a multi-sensory bird repellant that deters birds using sight, smell, and touch. As a visual deterrent, the birds see a UV spectrum that, to them, looks like fire or smoke (although there isn't any).
A Smell Deterrent Too
As a smell deterrent, the optical gel gives off a cayenne pepper or peppermint odor that the birds hate; and as a touch deterrent, the optical gel has a tacky feel to it that the birds dislike. These will condition the pigeons to no longer roost on the building.
