Blocking the Pigeons From Nesting Under Solar Panels in Forked River, NJ
Challenge
We were sent out to a new customer in Forked River, NJ to remove pigeons from her property. These nuisance birds were nesting underneath her solar panels and defecating all over her roof. Pigeons nesting under solar panels cause major issues including reduced energy efficiency, fire hazards from dry nesting material, ruined gutters blocked by acidic droppings, and severe noise.
Solution
We removed all of the nesting debris underneath each solar panel and then disinfected each one with a solution that targets bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds. When birds leave their nests, the mites are left behind without a suitable host for their next blood meal. They are tiny and semi-transparent, so bird mites are extremely difficult to detect and are the main reason why extreme care is needed when removing a bird's nest.
In order to prevent the pigeons from nesting underneath the solar panels we installed our solar panel exclusion kit around the entire perimeter of the solar panels. This kit creates a physical barrier to keep the pigeons, birds, and nuisance wildlife from accessing and nesting in the area beneath the solar arrays, protecting the roof and equipment from damage.
