Attic Insulation Photo Album: Revamping Attic with New Insulation in Skillman, NJ

No Longer Efficient

Fiberglass insulation loses its efficiency over time due to settling, moisture damage, air infiltration, and physical compression. Because it works by trapping air, anything that degrades those air pockets or allows air to bypass the insulation causes a sharp drop in thermal performance.

First, Take it Out

So we removed all of the fiberglass insulation as well as all other debris in the attic and disposed of them properly.

Nice & Clean

We then disinfected the entire attic...

Air Sealing Improves Efficieny

...and began air sealing all of the gaps and cracks in the attic. Doing this will eliminate the air flow between the living space and the attic, which improves energy efficiency.

Now for ComfortTherm® Insulation

Once that was finished, we installed ComfortTherm® Insulation throughout the attic. ComfortTherm® Insulation is poly-encapsulated and is ideal for moisture-rich environments. The insulation also helps to preserve the air quality, reduce energy costs, provide excellent temperature and noise control, and comes with a vapor-retarder for use in hot, humid climates.

Measuring the R-Value

We then placed several measuring sticks throughout the attic to ensure that the proper amount of R-value is added.

Add SilverGlo™

We then installed several SilverGlo™ borders. This will prevent the blown-in cellulose insulation from overflowing onto the attic floor and makes the attic look more organized.

TruSoft Maximizes Home Comfort

Finally, we added over 12 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation. Not only does this fill the attic to its recommended insulation levels, but TruSoft insulation maximizes home comfort, has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating, is resistant to mold and pests, is eco-friendly, and optimizes energy usage for year-round peace and savings for the homeowner!
