Before After
Gap in Pipe Leads to a Mouse Infested Basement in South Amboy, NJ Gap in Pipe Leads to a Mouse Infested Basement in South Amboy, NJ

This homeowner in South Amboy, NJ noticed mice droppings in her basement. Upon inspection throughout the basement I discovered a small shimmer of daylight coming from above the foundation sill plate. I inspected the area further to find more droppings and a significant crevice where a drain pipe exited to the exterior. The entry point was confirmed when inspecting the exterior area. I placed small Rodent bait stations with rodenticide bait in the interior area where mice activity was observed to eliminate any mice that may be residing within. I then installed an exterior Rodent bait station with rodenticide and sealed the entry point with copper mesh to eliminate any more mice attempting to gain entry into the home.

Job Stories From South Amboy, NJ
Moles Creating Tons of Tunnels Throughout the Yard in South Amboy, NJ

This customer in South Amboy, NJ, was suffering from a mole infestation in his backyard. These insectivores were tunneling throughout the yard, causing a lot of damage to the landscape. Moles are about 4-11" long (including tail), have brown or grey fur with a cylindrical body with a short tail, very small concealed eyes and ears and small hind feet and larger forefeet for digging. When you see a series of 3- to 5-inch round, raised ridges breaking the surface of your lawn that is accompanied by tiny dirt volcanoes, you know you have moles tunneling below ground.

In order to effectively target the moles, we used our Burrow RX. The Burrow RX is a carbon monoxide device that uses a smoke-oil tracer that shows us where the majority of the carbon monoxide is going, how far we are reaching in the tunnels, and if there are any leaks. If we notice any leaks, we fill them in. The gas isn’t toxic to owners because we're outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Additionally, there’s no residual that is left behind, so the family is in no danger of getting a residue on them. The Burrow RX is much more humane than using a pesticide or a trap and it guarantees that we are eliminating the moles!

Paper Wasps try to hide in soffits in South Amboy home

I was called to a home in South Amboy to remove a paper wasp infestation. The wasp’s nest was hanging from a soffit of the home. The attached image show the paper wasp nest and life cycle from egg to larvae to newly hatched wasp. First, I used a liquid residual chemical to eliminate live activity. Once there were no longer any active wasps, I removed the nest with an extension pole.

Especially for nests located in difficult locations, like high up in the eves or soffits of a home, please consider hiring a professional pest control service. However, if you decide to deal with the infestation as a DIY project and are willing to accept the risk of being stung, please think twice before using a ladder to reach the nest. Confronting a nest full of angry wasps while simultaneously trying to keep your balance on a ladder is a dangerous combination that should be avoided.
