Bird Control Services Photo Album: Keeping Geese Out of the Retention Pond in South Plainfield, NJ
Geese were roosting around this retention pond at this community in South Plainfield, NJ
The Geese Were Becoming a Problem
The geese were starting to roost and nest around the retention pond. They were defecating all over the community, causing unsanitary conditions.
Stainless Steel Grid Wire
Because humans are not perceived as predators, geese have no problem nesting near human environments. The best method to prevent them from roosting is to install a stainless steel grid wire around and over the retention pond.
Once the Poles Are Installed
Once we installed the poles, we began attaching the stainless steel wire that'll cover the entire perimeter of the retention pond.
Row Row Row Your Boat
In order to make sure that the stainless steel grid wire stretched across the entire retention pond, we rowed out to install it.
A Physical Bird Deterrent
This is a physical bird deterrent that won't harm the geese, but interfere with their flight pattern and makes it uncomfortable for them to roost.
A Solar-Powered Light Scares the Geese
We also attached a solar-powered bird-deterrent strobe light to the poles. The geese think that this light is actually a predator stalking them, which will make them avoid the area. We repeated this process to every single retention pond throughout the community, in order to guarantee that geese won't roost in these areas.
