Yellowjackets come inside home in West Windsor, NJ

I was recently sent to a home in West Windsor, NJ to deal with a troublesome yellowjacket infestation where the stinging wasps were actually entering the inside of the home! It’s bad enough to have yellowjackets on your property near your home, but to have them buzzing around inside is a whole different story. The homeowners were understandably upset about this infestation, and they were grateful that I was able to arrive so quickly to resolve the problem. For me, this is one of the most satisfying parts of being a pest control technician. I enjoy being able to immediately help homeowners deal with a problem that is affecting their use and enjoyment of their home in a major way.

Upon arrival, the homeowners anxiously escorted me to “the scene of the crime.” They took me to the rear of the home to show me where the wasps were wiggling and squiggling their way inside the home. As seen in the short video, the wasps were entering an area below a bay window where they were able to make their way into the basement. If these foraging wasps venture away from the nest for too long, they become progressively confused and lethargic and soon die. Social insects are highly interdependent upon one another and live collectively as a colony. An individual wasp just can’t make it on their own. However, even these wasps in their weakened state are still able to sting. Yellowjacket stings pack a wallop, and to me, they deliver one of the most painful stings of any of the stinging insects bar none. For those who are highly allergic to their venom and have a whole=body systemic reaction to the sting, it is a life-threatening situation. A single yellowjacket can sting multiple times since their stingers aren’t barbed, so if there are multiple agitated wasps, you can easily be stung dozens of times before you are able to escape their wrath. And I don’t know what it is about the aggressive disposition of yellowjackets. They will just keep following you even if you have moved far away from the nest and no longer pose a threat

I treated the yellowjacket entry point into the home with a highly effective product that will be carried back by the foraging insects and spread throughout the entire colony. The queen and the entire colony will be eliminated in no more than one to two days.
