Josh, a Brick resident, started with Cowleys in mid-2019. He wanted a new set of opportunities, and for him, Cowleys was the perfect fit. In addition to his background as a pest control technician, Josh has served as both a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). For Josh, all of these professions share one important common thread: helping those suffering from an overwhelming problem in a direct, immediate, and substantive way.
We are excited to have Josh on board. He is the quintessential team player who understands the importance of working together to reach shared goals. Josh was looking for a caring, friendly, family-oriented pest control service where everyone knows and supports everyone else. It was also important for him to find a company that was actively expanding, encouraged continuing education, and recognized and appreciated its employee contributions.
Initially, Josh will be servicing our residential customers, including the periodic inspections and preventative perimeter treatments that are part of our home protection plans. Later on, he will be helping us with our commercial and community property accounts. Josh is already a licensed NJDEP commercial pesticide applicator, holding both Core certification and the 7B certification for termites & other wood destroying insects. He has also taken more fire and EMS-related courses than he cares to count. So, if anyone in the office starts having chest pains or inadvertently starts a fire with our overused coffee machine, we’ll be calling 1-800-JOSH!
Josh enjoys the diversity of pest control work and is a self-starter, always looking forward to any new challenges that each day brings. He is very personable and is 100% customer service-oriented. He is anxious to learn the latest techniques and newest products that will help our customers resolve whatever pest infestation comes their way. The most satisfying part of his job is helping customers resolve their pest issues so they can get on with their lives.
When not working, Josh most enjoys spending time with his family. He stays involved with his kids by volunteering as a coach throughout the year. For him, the most important part of coaching is not winning or losing. It’s sharing the importance of teamwork and working together as a cohesive unit to be successful. For his own relaxation, Josh is an avid bowler. If not home, there is a good chance you’ll find him knocking down the pins at Ocean Lanes! However, when the weather is good, he enjoys being outside and enjoying a relaxing day of fishing.

As I was performing a routine service for a Home Protection Plan customer in Keyport, NJ I noticed a viable entry point in the foundation of a house. Believe it or not, this opening is the perfect size for not just pests, but mice to enter the home. In fact mice can squeeze through an opening the size of a dime!
First, I stuff the opening with copper mesh. Copper mesh is an excellent way to exclude rodents from crawling into tights spaces because they are unable to chew through it. Next, I used black caulk to seal the opening. Afterwards I finished treating the home for their regular service.
