Pests We Treat - Bed bugs in Imlaystown caught early

Two Cowleys bed bug specialists were dispatched to resolve a residential bed bug infestation in Imlaystown. During our inspection, we found live bed bugs and bed bug eggs on the homeowner’s mattress. Locating bed bugs and evidence of bed bug activity, generally eggs and fecal stains, require a detailed eye. The early states of a bed bug infestation can easily go undetected by homeowners when old a few bugs or eggs are present. Often, the first sign of bed bug trouble are unexplained bites when getting out of bed in the morning.

Adult bed bugs are small, about the size of an apple seed. They are reddish-brown, so if they crawling on a light background, they can usually be seen. The problem is that they most often hide in the smallest of cracks and crevices, and only come out when we are asleep and resting and they are ready for their next blood meal. Bed bug eggs can be even tougher to spot. They are very small, about the size of a pinhead, and pearl-white, so they easily blend in with a light-colored background.

Fortunately, our inspection revealed that the bed bugs were localized to the immediate vicinity of the bed, and had not yet spread. First, we carefully vacuumed all activity, both live and dead. Next, we sealed the mattress and boxspring in bedbug encasements. Bed bugs are small enough to fit into mattress stitching. We want to be sure the bed bugs are completely sealed in, so they have no where to run and no where to hide! Finally, we treated the frame and baseboard with a residual liquid application.

Two weeks later, we returned foe a follow-up visit and inspection. Good news!

The homeowners told us that they had not seen any new bed bug activity and they had remained bite-free. We conducted our own inspection to independently assess the status of the infestation. We could not find evidence of any new activity. These homeowners did exactly what we recommend — they contacted a professional pest control service experienced in bed bug treatments at the first sign of trouble before the bed bug population could increase, further spread out throughout the home, and became more entrenched. Because this infestation was limited to a small area of the home, we were able to take care of it quickly and easily.
