Cowleys Termite & Pest Services Offers Termidor®,
The #1 Liquid Termiticide and DuPont™ Altricet®,
The First New Termiticide in 10 Years.

Termidor, the best liquid treatment solution on the market.
Termidor is the leading professionally applied liquid treatment solution for the control of termites on the market today. This pest control application, developed by BASF, one of the world’s leading chemical companies, is one of the most thoroughly reviewed termite products in history. After more than a decade, it has a well-earned track record for structural protection against termites. Since its introduction, over 3.75 million homes have been protected with Termidor making it the most used subterranean termite defense product in the United States.
Termidor is incredibly effective even at low application rates. It is applied only with water and will not cause harm to plants adjacent to the areas of application. Its active ingredient bonds to the soil so there is no leaching. When professionally applied, Termidor provides 100% control of infesting termites in three months or less after treatment.
Termidor can only by used by licensed pest control professionals.
Termidor is an EPA-registered professional-use product only and is not available for the do-it-yourselfer. The purchase and application of Termidor is restricted to licensed professional pest control operators that have taken Termidor Certification training and have the proper equipment, resources, and personnel. Termidor is serious business. When professionally applied, it provides up to 10 years of structural protection.
Termidor is the most effective non-repellent solution for termite control.
When Termidor was introduced to the pest control industry , it was a true “game changer.” Prior to Termidor, liquid applications were “repellent.” That is, they worked by signaling termites to avoid the chemical and stay away from it. But that created a problem. There was not only a barrier for termites outside of the structure; there was also the same barrier for termites already on the inside. Termites were trapped inside the walls of the structure. Without moisture, they dehydrated and died and homeowners were left with thousands of dead termites trapped in walls. Also, there was the problem of having a break in the repellent barrier. All in all, the aplications prior to Termidor had serious shortcomings.
Termidor’s non-repellency revolutionized the termite control industry. With its advanced, undetectable liquid technology, termites can’t avoid what they can’t detect. The product is completely transparent to subterranean termites; they can’t smell it or otherwise detect it. So, termites forge ahead in Termidor-treated areas, contacting, ingesting, and sharing Termidor with other termites, blissfully unaware of their pending mortality as they go about their normal routines.
How does Termidor work?
Whenever a termite ingests or touches Termidor, it becomes a carrier, transferring it to other termites it contacts tantamount to a subterranean communicable disease. These termites, in turn, become secondary carriers that infecting other termites. And this iterative process keep spiraling until the colony is decimated. BASF calls this process in the interaction of Termidor and termites the “Transfer Effect.” It has proven itself to quickly destroy termite colonies. Termidor is purposefully slow acting so that there is ample time and opportunity for the termites to transfer it to others. The application takes advantage of the interdependence and caste structure of termites so that the colony literally implodes within itself.
Can Termidor be used as a preventative treatment?
Most definitely. A preventative Termador treatment provides an immediate defense and ring of security around a home that termites cannot penetrate. A preventative treatment will save a homeowner time and money because it is ultimately more expensive to repair termite damage than to prevent it from happening in the first place.
Termites can’t avoid what they can’t detect.
Termidor is an advanced undetectable liquid technology. That means termites cannot see, smell, taste, or avoid it. Instead, they contact, ingest and share Termidor, completely unaware that doing so inevitably will kill them.
How can homeowners be sure that Termidor works?
Termidor is made from a revolutionary nonrepellent or "undetectable" chemical technology. In numerous trials across the United States and around the world, Termidor has consistently proven itself to be the most effective and fastest at eliminating termites—a level of efficacy that no other commercially available termite control system of any type has ever achieved. And, Termidor is proving to be equally effective in keeping termites from coming back.
Ongoing field trials by the United States Department of Agriculture – Forest Service show no signs of termite damage in covered slab plots treated with Termidor WG at labeled rates for more than 14 years after treatment—results no other commercially available termite control product can match.

The First New Termiticide in Nearly 10 Year
Altriset is a new, safe application for killing subterranean termites and protecting structures from termite damage.
Altriset is a new liquid termite application developed by DuPont that was made available to pest control professionals in the spring of 2011. Altriset was developed by Dupont from research over a ten-year period into the insecticidal properties of substances found in the bark of trees and shrubs of the Ryania genus, a native plant of tropical America. Botanical insecticides made from the ground stems of these plants have been in use for many years. While highly toxic to certain insects, Ryania has very low toxicity to humans and animals. Altriset is the result of Dupont developing a synthetic product that mimics the effectiveness of these natural substances. It reportedly cost DuPont more than $250 million in research and registration costs to launch this product to the termite control industry.
Altriset is green enough for the staunchest environmentalist.
Altriset is an especially attractive option for those customers interested in “green” products with an environmentally friendly toxicological profile. In fact, Altriset is so green that its product label contains no warnings regarding potentially harmful effects produced as a result of its use and has no signal words like Caution, Warning, or Danger. It is the first and only liquid termite application to be classified as reduced-risk under the EPA reduced-risk program.
A product’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is a form required by OSHA to be made available to employees for potentially hazardous substances handled in the workplace. It contains important information regarding the properties of a particular substance including potential hazards, toxicity, and first aid. Altriset is so safe that there are no first-aid requirements listed for inhalation, skin contact or ingestion. Even the MSDS for baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), a ubiquitous “safe” household product that we seem to put everywhere including our refrigerator, has a list of first aid steps. Considering that Altriset, a product used to kill subterranean termites, has been tested as absolutely safe and with no first-aid requirements, is a phenomenal technological accomplishment for Dupont. Even if the product is splashed in someone’s eyes, the EPA does not require or recommend any first aid procedures!
Altriset, while it may be green, still packs a big punch.
When used in accordance with the label, Altriset will result in termite elimination in less than three months as well as provide residual protection for more than five years. Laboratory and field study results have established that Altriset halts termite feeding within hours while providing termite elimination for critical long-term structural protection. Since it is a newer product, Altriset does not yet have the years of accumulated research and field-testing of a tried-and-true such as Termidor, but all research and field-testing (more than 5 years to date) have established Altriset to be a highly effective product. Like Termidor, it eliminates termites in less than three months as well as offering residual protection for more than five years and counting. Considering its effectiveness and its environmental safety, Altriset has a promising future especially if the EPA continues to pose further restrictions on the use of the active ingredients used in various pest control applications.
Like Termidor, Altriset is a non-repellant application and also, like Termidor, the product is transferred among and between termites in order to eliminate the colony. The active ingredient in Altriset is Chlorantraniliprole. Once termites come into contact with Altriset, their ability to feed on wood is halted within hours, resulting in death. Altriset targets a very specific part of the termite’s muscles. The mouths of the exposed termites become paralyzed and are forced to stop feeding (let’s hope the US weight loss industry doesn’t get any crazy ideas!). This targeted toxicological profile means that its effect on non-target animals including humans, pets, birds, and even other insects and bees are non-existent.
